Xenophon favours old parties in preferences deal
14 August 2013
In Adelaide today, former Greens leader Bob Brown said Independent Senator Nick Xenophon will give preferences to Liberal and Labor before the Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young.
“Nick confirmed this to me. He is giving a leg-up to Tony Abbott getting control of the Senate,” Mr Brown said.
“If Sarah is vying with Cory Bernadi to keep her seat after September 7, Nick’s preferences will see the Libs win and bring Tony Abbott a step closer to control of both houses of parliament.
“It is very, very important that progressive voters give their primaries to Sarah.”
Bob Brown is in Adelaide as part of the Greens campaign.
