Veteran Tasmanian forest activist, Colette Harmsen faces court this morning over a protest at Salamanca Markets where she dressed as Premier Rockliff for an “endangered species banquet.” Colette was charged with giving a false name (Jeremy Rockliff) and disobeying a police officer.
“Today the Tasmanian Premier Jeremy Rockliff is appearing in court to answer to allegations of ecocide, threatening endangered species and eating Swift Parrots and other endangered Tasmanian wildlife,” said Colette Harmsen.
On Saturday 14 February 2026, forest activists dressed as a variety of logging industry figures including Premier Rockliff, Eric Abetz, Guy Barnett, Suzette Weeding, Julie Collins and past and present CEOs of Forestry Tasmania.
“As part of the satirical banquet, threatened species dishes on the menu included, Masked Owl meatballs, Tasmanian Devil ratatouille, braised Wedge-Tailed Eagle burgers, and sauteed Swift Parrot sliders. The banquet attendees tucked enthusiastically into the endangered species courses, all agreeing that with their habitat continuing to be plundered, it’d be a shame to miss out on eating them before they go extinct,” said Colette Harmsen.
When the Premier Rockliff impersonator was asked why they enjoyed eating endangered species so much while destroying their habitat at the same time they said: “I am the Premier of Tasmania and I can eat whatever species I like. I would eat Tasmanian Tigers were they not extinct and I regret not having the opportunity to eat them. I am the boss of this state and can do whatever I want.”Asked what they thought about Australia having the highest rate of mammal extinction in the world they laughed, saying they were more interested in jobs and growth, and concentrating on what could be done in the next election cycle rather than worrying about what might happen when they were old and retired.”
The matter has now been adjourned till February 2027
