Help map and protect critical swift parrot habitat in forests threatened by logging. No previous experience required — just bring your curiosity.
This citizen science project aims to map swift parrot habitat in forests under threat of logging. The data collected will be used by BBF campaigns to protect these critical forests.
Volunteers use tape measures and GPS devices to document potential habitat trees inside logging coupes. Weekend trips run monthly from July through October — camp overnight or join as a day trip.
Locations include Lake Leake, Wielangta, the Tasman Peninsula and Southern Forests — all within swift parrot habitat currently under threat.
