Initial interest sign up form for the 2027 Takayna Trail run
Takayna Trail 2027 is based in the heart of Takayna in north-west Tasmania with the Men’s Shed in Waratah serving as our HQ for the event. Participants will experience incredible forest landscapes, with lineage dating back to the ancient supercontinent of Gondwanaland. The event traverses forests of ferns, fungi, epiphytes, lichen, and mosses — along with sections that home towering eucalypt trees, myrtle forests and views over mystical green valleys. The terrain on the trail regularly changes, along with the flora, allowing participants to experience one of Earth’s last wild places.
You’re not just signing up for a trail run. You’re taking on an incredible physical challenge, experiencing one of the world’s great wild places while learning about and helping raise funds to protect Takayna.
Takayna T22, T37 and T62 courses are available to choose from. The 22 km follows a mostly well-defined track and requires minimal navigation. The 37 km and 62 km are longer, more remote courses with substantially greater elevation and navigation requirements.
Choose the course that best matches your experience, navigation skills and confidence in remote terrain.
T22: A good choice for those newer to trail events, or anyone seeking a shorter course on a mostly well defined track with minimal navigation.
T37: A challenging option for experienced trail runners who are comfortable with increased distance, elevation, remoteness and navigation.
T62: The most demanding option, suited to highly experienced trail runners with strong endurance, navigation skills and confidence travelling through remote terrain.
Fundraising closes on 30 April, nine weeks after the event, giving participants time to follow up promised donations.
Registrations open mid August and sell out quickly.
