Help observe swift parrots and map trees to help protect critical swift parrot habitat. No previous experience required — just bring your curiosity.
About this event
Join our Campaign Science team and head into Tasmania's at-risk forests to search for, record and help defend critically endangered Swift Parrots.
Earlier this year, research from the Australian National University found that more than half of all Swift Parrot breeding habitat has been lost, with native forest logging the leading cause. Every remaining patch of forest matters, and the first step to protecting it is proving the birds are there.
That's where you come in. Each survey takes us into forests on the logging schedule, where we look for Swift Parrots and document what we find. Last summer, our citizen science team spotted Swift Parrots in an active logging zone in the Eastern Tiers. Our direct action crew moved in and halted the destruction.
This is the power of combining citizen science with frontline action. No experience is needed, just a willingness to get out into the bush and help.
