Firebombing Tassie’s wild forests

Forestry Tasmania has announced it will incinerate thousands of hectares of flattened forest in what the Bob Brown Foundation labels as an Autumn Degeneration and Firebombing plan.

The Albanese government’s approval of the plan includes firebombing 180 areas of Tasmania’s logged native forests. That firebombing will damage the climate, kill rare wildlife and harm human health.

Forestry Tasmania has a history of its burns escaping into adjacent forests. Scientists have shown that logging makes bushfires worse.

“The climate criminals here are Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Tasmania’s Premier Rockliff. Logging and incinerating native forests fuels both global warming and the extinction catastrophe,” Bob Brown Foundation’s Jenny Weber said.

“Tasmanians are facing another year of irresponsible and needless incineration of our wild forests,” Jenny Weber said.
