Big Canopy Campout  – takayna TAS

Explore the canopies, camp in the forests, learn to climb and learn the plight of takayna.

Everyone is welcome to come and explore the canopies, camp in the forests, learn to climb and understand the plight of these magnificent places. 

No experience climbing necessary.  

This year’s global canopy camp out raises awareness about the Seikopai indigenous communities in Ecuador though the SËRA Foundation, sharing, learning and connecting information in the fight to protect their ancestral knowledge and ultimately the Amazon rainforest. 

 In lutruwita/ Tasmania we will be out in the rugged rainforests of takayna/ Tarkine to occupy, explore, defend and protect native forests. 

What to bring
  • Sleeping gear, tent, mat and sleeping bag
  • Warmth and dryth- it’s a Rainforest.
  • Headtorch and batteries
  • Mobile phone for all the media coverage possible on socials and to tell your story
  • Personal climb gear and Helmet if you so have it. (Not essential but if you have a climbing helmet please do bring this.)
  • Personal vegan Snacks to share. Lunches and Dinners will be communal vegan feasts.
  • Water capacity- the creek is not so close.
  • Wet weather gear tip to toe, full sun protection. 
  • Personal medications.
  • Musical Instruments.
  • Bowl and spoon, cutlery and cup.
  • Thermos, lunch box.
  • Hammocks and spares if you have them, platform, treesit.
