Industrial salmon farming is destroying Tasmania’s rivers, bays and ocean. With huge corporations now taking control of the toxic Tasmanian salmon industry, Premier Rockliff must get salmon pens out of Tasmania’s waters, before it’s too late.
Tasmania’s coastal waters are some of the most pristine left on Earth and they are worth protecting. 90% of Tasmania’s marine life is found nowhere else in the world and these waters are a hotspot for biodiversity. Our waters are home to the Red Handfish, the World's rarest fish and the Maugean Skate, both of which are listed by the Federal Government as a priority endangered species.
The toxic salmon industry is destroying their home.
With huge multinational companies, like JBS and Cooke Aquaculture taking over the toxic salmon industry, we must act before it is too late. Both companies have an appalling environmental record and although the damage from salmon farms is already terrible, it is only going to get worse.
