Bob Brown Foundation has congratulated Barbados-born artist Melanie McCollin-Walker on her winning the Glover Prize People’s Choice Award for her painting Long Way From Home, depicting a misty morning on the Savage River in takayna / Tarkine.

“Ms McCollin-Walker’s painting beautifully captures the scene that has touched so many visitors to these ancient rainforests, and it is no surprise that it has resonated with the public”, said Bob Brown Foundation takayna / Tarkine Campaigner Scott Jordan.

“Thousands of visitors flock to takayna every year to experience the awe that Ms McCollin Walker has captured. We know that its World Heritage values resonate on a global level and it is fitting that this award has gone to a painting by a Tasmanian.”

“Ms McCollin-Walker is a deserving winner,” said Scott Jordan.
