Over 50 concerned citizens have rallied in front of the Danish Embassy today, with a letter to the Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen hand delivered by Bob Brown to the embassy staff.

The letter urged the Danish Prime Minister to release Paul Watson immediately and listen to the concerns of French Prime Minister, Emmanuel Macron, who rang the Danish PM urging for Paul’s release.

Captain Paul Watson is currently in jail in Nuuk, Greenland facing extradition to Japan after Danish authorities acted on a politically motivated and vengeful red notice from Japan.

Bob Brown told the crowd, “France and the USA refused Tokyo’s call to arrest Watson, who saved thousands of whales from Japanese harpoons. Now Denmark risks its own good reputation being harpooned. The FREE PAUL WATSON protests will only grow.”

“With over 50 people outside the Danish Embassy in Canberra, it sends a clear message that Australians don’t want to see whale savers jailed. Prime Minister Albanese must break his silence and follow the French example by picking up the phone and demanding Paul Watson’s release,” Bob Brown said.
