Justice Estcourt has reserved his decision until Friday morning at 9:30am.

“We commenced this case to defend Swift Parrots in late 2023, and we were successful in gaining an injunction against the logging of their habitat in early 2024 in a coupe behind Geeveston,” said Jenny Weber, Bob Brown Foundation Campaigns Director.

“When the Swift Parrot was listed as critically endangered in 2015 due to logging, the UN advice was for Governments to place all Swift Parrot habitat on public lands in secure conservation reserves. Since 2015 logging has continued to flatten Swift Parrot forests on public lands in the only place on earth that they breed. It must cease immediately,” said Jenny Weber.
